Hegeler Carus Quarter Scale Mansion Dollhouse
Designed by: Leonard Fricke of Dollhouse Designs
This
project took 300 plus hours to complete, between January to June 2023. The
Mansion kit is available from Rose Garden Miniatures but is NOT for
beginners. Some of the venders who supplied kits for this project are:
Kristy Norman of Norman Creek
Miniatures; Jean Day of Jean Day Miniatures; Susan Karatjas of SDK
Miniatures; Debbie Young of Young at Heart; Michelle Falshock of Michelle’s
Miniatures; Gail Hart of Hart's Desire; Semones Minis; Etchers Miniatures; Needles & Minis; Barbara Ann Meyer of Mini
Gems; Evans Designs; Model Builder Supply. I put all the kits together with many thanks for
tips/help from all the venders involved. This was a major project and I
wanted to give credit where credit was due. I made all the chandeliers in
the house and most of the curtains, and filled in some details with swaps
that I had received over the years, but not used yet in my own projects.
Thank you for all of you who provided swaps to make the details in this
house so much better. This one is one of a kind and I hope you will all
enjoy the photos. Please click on photos to make them larger. |
This is the completed front of the mansion. |
Notice the address sign, 2023 Chandler Place. Nancy didn't know she had a
street named for her. |
Close up of the front stairs. Note the flowers are made from bunka, a tip I
got from Jean Day! |
Notice the mailbox had the numbers on it. That was fun trying to get them
that small. |
This is the close up of the left front yard. |
You can see the table and chairs better in this angle. |
This is the right front yard. Notice the peacock strutting around. |
This shows the right porch where there is a table and chairs for eating near
the kitchen door. |
The overall of the back of the house with no lights on. |
The overall of the back of the house with all the lights on! |
From the first floor starting on the left side of the house, the kitchen. |
Another view of the kitchen and yes, all the cabinets have little plates and
glasses in them. |
This is the first floor hall. Nancy wanted a bathroom in it but I could only
fit in a powder room. The powder room has a vanity sink and toilet with all
the accessories needed, soap, towels, & toilet paper. You just can't see
them unless you put a dental mirror in there to look behind the door. All of
the halls were difficult to photograph because of the white stairs. |
We put the dining room on the first floor to be close to the kitchen. Since
it was around Easter when I did this room we put Easter cakes and baskets on
the buffet. |
Close up of the table. |

A peek in the window nook. It was very difficult to photograph the window
nook areas on all the floors so forgive me for the not as good photos. |
Moving on to the second floor is the Peacock Bedroom. It's because of this
room that there is a peacock in the front yard.
|
Here's the lamps lighted but before the lighted chandler was installed |
Second floor entry hall. The entry doors are on the second floor instead of
the first. I was kind of proud of the chandler in the hall. Hope you can see
it. |
The living room is also on the second floor. |
We used some tiny 144 scale figures for the shelf in the living room. |
Again a peek into the window nook which was very difficult to photograph. |
Moving to the third floor where the big master bathroom is. |
I tried to copy the floral pattern on the tub and bathroom fixtures onto the
vanity bring the whole room together. |
I was finally able to use one of the curtains that Nancy provided in the
third floor hallway. The brown thing on the left wall is a grandfather
clock. |
This is the third floor bedroom. I put two beds in because Nancy has a thing
for beds and has so many. |
A peek into the window nook where I put the armoire. Poor girls needed
somewhere to put their clothes! |
Nancy wanted a TV in her mansion but with the style of furniture in the rest
of the house, the TV seemed like it was "from another time." So we made a
family lounge with slightly more modern furniture in the fourth floor. |
The TV is in the dormer section of the room. |
Another angle of the room. |
Hard to see all the stuff in this room so yet another angle. |
And finally the nursery. There was so much that could go into the nursery
that we just kept adding and adding to it. |
The nursery before we added all the pull toys. We did have the tiny tea set
in there at that point. |
Peeking into the window nook where the changing table is. Also notice the
teddy bear chandelier. |
Before I put the ceiling on, I sneaked a photo of the other wall of the
changing area. |
This ends the tour of the
Hegeler Carus
Quarter Scale Mansion. I hope you enjoyed the tour and all the special
details that we tried to include in the house. I will only say that the
photos do not do it justice. I wish you could all see it in person. In fact,
I told Nancy I wished I could keep it but alas she said no. She's waited for
a long time for this house to be completed. I tried to make it something
special.
Hope I succeeded. |
